Aliecia and Brad were among our first members to sign-up at AR Fitness. If there was one word to describe them cohesively, it would be outstanding. They are outstanding members that push others in the community. They are outstanding listeners in class (even though Brad does so begrudgingly sometimes haha). Most importantly though, they are outstanding people. They are the type of members that you dream of being part of your community. Because of that fact, they were an easy choice for member(s) of the month.
How long have you been working out for?
Aliecia - We started semi-consistently working out during COVID but then stopped until your Mom invited me to Camp Gladiator and it’s been consistent since that time; January 2021
Brad - I worked out a lot in high school and college. I then stopped for the next 20 years. I have been consistently working out for the last 3 years.
What is your primary goal for coming to AR?
Aliecia - Improving my health including cardiovascular health and overall strength
Brad - To get as jacked as possible with as little work as possible. Just kidding but no really I want to be as fit as possible. Bigger muscles, less fat. I also want to build friendships with all the members.
What keeps you motivated to come back?
Aliecia - The people 100%
Brad - Richard body shames me and it hurts my feelings so I come back desperately hoping he will accept me. But it hasn’t happened yet. Honestly, at this point it’s less about motivation now. Working out is just an important part of my life. I don’t really have to get motivated to go. I want to.
What is your favorite thing about AR?
Aliecia - Also the people 100% but I also love the programming. EVERYTHING has a purpose and no time is wasted.
Brad - Geeting to work out with other people. I could work out at a gym but it’s not the same experience. I do think it’s importing share my least favorite thing - burpees. Burpees stink. I would never do a burpee on my own.
What’s your favorite movement?
Aliecia - pull ups
Brad - Anything other than burpees. I think squats have been my favorite lately.
What’s your favorite hobby?
Aliecia - Chess
Brad - I love reading, learning new technologies, and playing chess.
What’s one piece of advice for someone starting out in their fitness journey?
Aliecia - Be consistent and it will pay off!
Brad - Don’t do burpees. They’re horrible. Honestly though, be consistent. Change will happen over time. Be disciplined to show up as much as possible. Be patient. Eventually you will come to love it.
What’s one thing you want others to know about you?
Aliecia - If there’s anything good in me, it’s Jesus
Brad - I am a very flawed person who is loved by a great savior Jesus Christ. He loved me despite being unlovable and He is changing me little by little over time. There isn’t much about me that’s worth knowing other than I am loved by Him, I have a great wife, fantastic kids, and beautiful grandkids. I am blessed.
